GENRE: Fiction & Non-Fiction & Life Writing
Families provide some of our most powerful stories – whether they’re funny or sad, fact or fiction. This course, for new and experienced writers alike, will use techniques
from novels, journalism and theatre to help you generate plentiful material, and freely adapt it. We will examine a writer’s right to tell their story, and how that affects others (is it sometimes necessary to lie in order to bring over the truth?) And to focus your writing, we will consider structure, scene-building, character development, dialogue, viewpoint and other elements that can make one person’s story truly universal.
