Telling a story with music

GENRE: Playwriting
-
The Hurst

Musical theatre raises many questions and possibilities not present in traditional storytelling. How can a song carry the story along? How can we make the harmonic language and the rhythmic pulse of music reflect and illuminate characters and their problems? In what way are the ‘shapes’ of musical theatre different to those of straight theatre? Anyone, at whatever level and whatever genre, who is interested in these questions is welcome to join us in exploring them. It is essential that we work as a group so we can share our challenges and celebrate our discoveries together.
