GENRE: Non-Fiction & Life Writing
Lives and journeys lend themselves to narrative. But how do we turn a personal excursion – or a lifetime’s voyage – into prose? Biographers and travel writers need to be imaginative, flexible and ingenious in shaping the stories we have to tell, in order to accommodate the rich unpredictability of life, the complexities of character and place, and the way travel changes the traveller.
Through creative engagement with language and structure, this course explores how we can transform experience – our own or others’ – into stories and books.
