Weaving real-life events into an engaging story

GENRE: Non-Fiction & Life Writing
-
Totleigh Barton

Knowing what to leave out is as important as what to leave in. For those interested in life-writing, memoir, travel or history writing, we will focus on creating an engaging narrative using real-life events and situations without drowning your reader in unnecessary facts and figures. We will demonstrate how to use dialogue, characterisation and structure to bring your ideas to life and tell a compelling, readable story. This week is aimed at those with a half- or even fully formed idea for a work of non-fiction.
