Something old, something new, something borrowed

GENRE: Starting to Write
Lumb Bank

As a springboard into writing, there’s a lot of material out there for us to use – old things, new things, things we can steal or borrow. During this course we’ll look at how writing can emerge from the things around us – found objects, newspaper articles, overheard speech – and how we can shape random sources of inspiration into exciting stories or confident poems. We will also cover the basics of fiction and poetry writing, including character, form and how to construct stories and poems on the page.
