Twenty years after his death, Ted Hughes remains a towering figure in poetry. His imagination was gripped by the Upper Calder Valley, where he lived for many years. You will live for a week in Ted Hughes’s former home, Lumb Bank, immersed in his work and the landscape, which he addressed in his magisterial Remains of Elmet poems. The course will take full advantage of its setting, through outdoor exploration and by responding to the ‘Elmet’ poems and images, with special access to the original Fay Godwin photographs, now on display at Lumb Bank.
This course is discounted for Arvon 18-25 members.
