In our 50th year we’re excited to be introducing short residential courses. We have two types of short courses – Friday pm to Sunday pm and Monday pm to Thursday am – which include most aspects of an Arvon week.
We’ve been listening to writers who are keen to come to Arvon but can’t manage a full week. We have captured all the essential elements that make the Arvon week unique and distilled it into a short course.
You will be one of up to 14 writers. Everyone gets a single room. There will be two tutors running the course. Significant departures from our classic Arvon week include no mid-course guest and no cooking duties so you can enjoy additional time to write while our centre staff cook you three delicious meals a day.
These courses are currently only available at Lumb Bank, our Yorkshire centre.
Monday pm– Thursday am
Our Mon-Thurs courses run from Monday lunchtime with a departure after breakfast on Thursday. The course includes ten hours of workshop-based group tuition; each student gets two one-to-one tutorials and there is a celebratory reading night on Wednesday.
Friday pm – Sunday pm
The long weekend course begins on Friday lunchtime with a departure after lunch on Sunday. The course includes eight hours of workshop-based tuition; each student gets two one-to-one tutorials and there is a celebratory reading to end the course.
