Telling True Stories

By: Rashmi Sirdeshpande

Video / Non-Fiction / 8-12

Award-winning writer Rashmi Sirdeshpande explores writing true stories and keeping them fresh, fun, and exciting. Can you find all the classic story elements in your true tale and pull them onto the page? Can you keep your reader interested? Can you leave them hungry for more?

Drawing on snippets from How To Be Extraordinary and How To Change The World, illustrated by Annabel Tempest, Rashmi will invite you to research and write about an extraordinary person or an amazing instance of teamwork or activism. In Part 1, she’ll set out the challenge and give you some tips about finding the juiciest facts you can. And in Part 2, you’ll roll up those sleeves and get writing!
