Alev Scott is a reporter and author previously based in Turkey and Greece. Her books include Turkish Awakening: A Personal Discovery of Modern Turkey (Shortlisted for the 2015 Debut Political Book of the Year) and Ottoman Odyssey: Travels Through a Lost Empire (Shortlisted for the 2019 Stanford Dolman Travel Book of the Year). Her forthcoming book, Cash Cow: How the maternal body became a global commodity – and the hidden costs for women will be published on 26th February by HarperCollins and is included in the New Scientist’s Best Science Books of 2026.
