Dan Richards is a writer and broadcaster who specialises in travel, memoir, and culture. Having previously taught at Bristol University, he currently teaches Creative Non-Fiction at The National Centre for Writing (in association with UEA). He is the co-author Holloway of Holloway (with Robert Macfarlane & Stanley Donwood), and author of The Beechwood Airship Interviews, Climbing Days, and Outpost. Dan’s most recent book Overnight: Journeys, Conversations and Stories After Dark was published by Canongate in 2025. Only After Dark, a BBC Radio 4 series about the nocturnal world, was broadcast to acclaim in 2022. A further BBC series is set to follow in 2026. Dan has written for the New York Times, Observer, Guardian, Economist, Esquire and Monocle.
