Georgie’s non-fiction project, Never Had a Dad – a personal quest to find a father figure by ‘dadvertising’ in national newspapers and magazines – caught the attention of the hit US radio show This American Life, and was previewed to millions worldwide. The story was published by William Collins in 2024, and has since featured on the BBC World Service, as well as in The Times, The Express, The Daily Mail and others. Never Had a Dad is now under option for a TV series with a major production company.
Georgie’s first book, We Swim To The Shark – a non-fiction adventure about the sea, scuba diving, and the roots of fear – was published by Fleet in 2020, sparking coverage from BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour, ABC Melbourne, TLS and more. That spring, in partnership with Wasafiri Magazine, Georgie created the lockdown-inspired ‘antiviral’ literary festival BookBound 2020, which won a Time Out Award by public vote. Georgie Codd is a graduate of the University of East Anglia’s Prose-writing MA, where her flash fiction won the Seth Donaldson Bursary.
