Heather Clark

Heather Clark is the author of three award-winning books on modern poets, most recently Red Comet: The Short Life and Blazing Art of Sylvia Plath, which was a New York Times Top Ten Book of 2021. Red Comet was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the LA Times Book Prize in Biography, and won the Slightly Foxed Prize for Best First Biography. Clark’s other books include The Ulster Renaissance: Poetry in Belfast 1962-1972; The Grief of Influence: Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes; and the forthcoming Sylvia Plath: A Very Short Introduction. Clark has published essays and reviews in the New York Times, Harvard Review, Times Literary Supplement, Lit Hub, Time, and elsewhere. She is Professor of Contemporary Poetry at the University of Huddersfield and a 2022-23 Guggenheim Fellow.
