Ian’s debut poetry collection Zebra (Nine Arches Press) was nominated for the Portico Prize. His second collection, Tormentil (Nine Arches), won a Royal Society of Literature ‘Literature Matters’ Award, and was longlisted for The Laurel Prize 2024. He is the editor of Why I Write Poetry (Nine Arches), and the producer and co-editor of After Sylvia: Poems and Essays in Celebration of Sylvia Plath (Nine Arches). Ian was Writer in Residence at the Brontë Parsonage Museum for 2023/24. His work has been highly commended in the Forward Prizes for Poetry and won the Hamish Canham Prize. He is widely published in journals including The Poetry Review and Poetry London, and has written for the BBC. Ian is a fellow of The Complete Works.
