James McDermott

James McDermott is a queer writer based in East Anglia represented by Independent Talent. His plays published by Samuel French include Rubber Ring (Pleasance Islington/UK Tour; Winner of Pulse Festival’s Suitcase Prize 2017) and Time & Tide (Park Theatre; Offie nominated for Best New Play 2020; longlisted for the Bruntwood, Papatango and Verity Bargate Playwriting Prizes). James is also one of the writers on EastEnders. James’s poetry books include Wild Life (Nine Arches Press), Manatomy (Burning Eye Books; longlisted for Polari’s First Book Prize 2021) and Erased (Polari Press). James is a lecturer in Creative Writing at The University of East Anglia.
