Lucy Wood was born in Cornwall and completed an MA in Creative Writing at Exeter University. Her first book, Diving Belles (Bloomsbury 2012) is a collection of short stories based on Cornish folklore. She was the runner-up in the BBC National Short Story Award 2013, has received a Somerset Maugham Award, been shortlisted for the Edge Hill Prize and longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize and the Frank O Connor Award. Her story Of Mothers and Little People was published in The Telegraph. She has had stories broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 4 Extra, and as one of the Guardian Short Story Podcasts 2013. She is currently finishing work on her first novel Weathering which is due to be published by Bloomsbury in 2015.
