Sita Brahmachari is an acclaimed novelist, short story writer and playwright. Her debut novel Artichoke Hearts won the Waterstones Children’s Book Award. Her other novels include Jasmine Skies, Kite Spirit, Red Leaves and Tender Earth. She is Associate Lecturer in Children’s and Young Adult Literature at Goldsmiths University, a Royal Literary Fund Fellow and Writer-In-Residence at Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants. She was Book Trust’s Writer-in-Residence and received the Writing Honour for Tender Earth from the International Board of Books for Young People. The River Whale was a World Book Day title. Her most recent novel When Shadows Fall was a Guardian and Times Book of The Year and has been longlisted for the 2023 Yoto Carnegies. Sita is currently writing an environmental story for the Southbank Centre’s Imagine A Story – a story that will lead to thousands of school children bringing their own writing to Rewilding Dream.
