Sophy Roberts
Sophy Roberts is an author and journalist based in West Dorset. Educated at Oxford University, then the Columbia School of Journalism, she is a regular contributor to the Financial Times, among other titles. Her writing focuses on remote places, often overlooked in the news — the Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Siberia, Iraq. She is the author of The Lost Pianos of Siberia (with publishing rights sold in 11 languages), and host of the travel writing podcast Gone to Timbuktu. Her second book, A Training School for Elephants, published in 2025, was an instant Sunday Times bestseller, and shortlisted for the Wainwright Prize.
