Arvon at Home & Class Fest Masterclass: Poetry and the Body with Joelle Taylor

Zoom masterclass with Joelle Taylor

Thursday October 21st 2021, 11:00 BST

Award-winning poet Joelle Taylor hosts a masterclass on poetry as it relates to the body. Over the course of the session you’ll explore the body as an archive and as a resource for new work.

While considering poetry that focuses on the idea of a body (as both imagined and real), you’ll have the opportunity to generate new approaches and fresh perspectives in your own writing.

This masterclass is FREE and is brought to you in partnership with Class Fest, the festival celebrating the work of working-class writers. The festival will run from the 21 -24 October; browse the full programme here and find out more on Twitter here.

The masterclass will be delivered via Zoom and will last two hours (11:00 – 13:00) including time for you to write. You will need to have a computer or smart device and a reliable internet connection in order to participate.

"These zoom opportunities are really helping to open my world and keep me inspired to write."

"Arvon at Home creates a model to participate in inspirational tutoring for writers, at a distance. The feeling of attending to my writing life in an excellent fashion, and still having a half-day for my work and caring responsibilities at home, felt like a good balance."

—Masterclass participant

"It was an absolutely brilliant session and very very useful. And it made me realise how much I’ve missed this kind of workshop because of having children and family that I can’t leave. Now we’re all in the same boat the online stuff is truly transformative."
