Arvon at Home: Live Guest Reading

Reading and Q&A from Tania Hershman via Zoom

Wednesday June 3rd 2020, 7:15pm BST

Now more than ever we need stories – to engage, to distract, to entertain, to nourish, and to help us make sense of what we’re living through. And so while you can’t come to us, instead we will come to you, bringing a taste of Arvon into your home one night a week. Every Wednesday evening an Arvon tutor will join us as a guest, to read from their own work and answer your questions live and in person online.

This Live Guest Reading is with Tania Hershman on Wednesday 3 June at 7:15 pm BST. Tania Hershman is the author of three story collections, two poetry books and hybrid pamphlet, forthcoming in 2020. A former science journalist, she recently completed a fictional-memoir-in-collage and is working on a hybrid book about time. Her short story collections are Some Of Us Glow More Than OthersMy Mother Was An Upright Piano, and The White Road and Other Stories. Tania is the author of a poetry chapbook, Nothing Here Is WildEverything Is Open. She is co-author of Writing Short Stories: A Writers’ & Artists’ Companion (Bloomsbury, 2014).

The reading and interactive Q&A will be hosted on Zoom. This is a live event and will not be recorded.

We are more committed than ever to helping writers find inspiration, and to make space for their own creativity, no matter the setting. So join us from the comfort of your sofa and listen to writers share their work, the stories behind their work, and invaluable writing advice directly from their own desk (or maybe the kitchen table).

Cost: £5.00

In response to the George Floyd tragedy and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement Arvon will be donating all ticket proceeds from this Live Guest Reading to the Crisis Funding for Inclusive Publishers crowdfunding campaign. The funds raised will support diversity-led inclusive independent publishers across the UK.

Very lovely. It had an intimate feeling despite it being a Zoom event and all of us being in different places.

"Thanks for an excellent session last night. It worked very well on Zoom, especially with the Q&A using the chat function."

"What a brilliant reading. It was intimate and moving and very listener friendly. I loved it and will be back for more."
