Arvon at Home: Live Guest Reading

Reading and Q&A from Jo Brand via Zoom

Friday June 5th 2020, 7:15pm BST

Online

Now more than ever we need stories – to engage, to distract, to entertain, to nourish, and to help us make sense of what we’re living through. And so while you can’t come to us, instead we will come to you, bringing a taste of Arvon into your home one night a week. Every Wednesday evening an Arvon tutor will join us as a guest, to read from their own work and answer your questions live and in person online.

This Live Guest Reading is with Jo Brand on Friday 5 June at 7:15 pm BST. Jo Brand is a comedian, writer, presenter and actor. As a critically acclaimed writer, Jo has written the hit comedy history books A Load Of Old Balls and A Load Of Old Ball Crunchers (both Simon & Schuster); the novels It’s Different For GirlsSorting Out Billy and The More You Ignore Me– the last of which was adapted and released as a film in 2016 (all for Headline Review). Her autobiography Look Back In Hunger was followed by a second one about live performance called I Can’t Stand Up For Sitting Down. She added to this with Born Lippy in 2018. The reading and interactive Q&A will be hosted on Zoom. This is a live event and will not be recorded.

We are more committed than ever to helping writers find inspiration, and to make space for their own creativity, no matter the setting. So join us from the comfort of your sofa and listen to writers share their work, the stories behind their work, and invaluable writing advice directly from their own desk (or maybe the kitchen table).

Very lovely. It had an intimate feeling despite it being a Zoom event and all of us being in different places.
