Now more than ever we need stories – to engage, to distract, to entertain, to nourish, and to help us make sense of what we’re living through. And so while you can’t come to us, instead we will come to you, bringing a taste of Arvon into your home one night a week. Every week an Arvon tutor will join us as a guest, to read from their own work and answer your questions live and in person online.

This Live Guest Reading is with Henry Normal on Wednesday 28th April at 7:15 pm BST.

Henry Normal is a writer, poet and TV and Film producer and founder of the Manchester Poetry Festival (now 25yrs later – the International Literature festival) and co-founder of the Nottingham Poetry Festival (now in it’s 5th year). He co-wrote and script edited the multi-award winning Mrs Merton show and the spin off series Mrs Merton and Malcolm. He also co-created and co-wrote the first series of The Royle Family. With Steve Coogan he co-wrote the BAFTA winning Paul and Pauline Calf Video Diaries, Coogan’s Run, Tony Ferrino, Doctor Terrible and all three of Steve’s live tours and the film The Parole Officer. Setting up Baby Cow Productions Ltd in 1999 Henry Executive Produced all, and script edited many of the shows of its seventeen and a half year output during his tenure as MD. Since retiring from TV work in April 2016 Henry has written and performed seven BBC Radio 4 shows   In April, 2018, Two Roads publishers released his book A Normal Family written with his wife Angela Pell drawing on his family experience. It immediately became a best seller on Amazon and as already been re-printed. The paperback is was released 21st March 2019.

Henry performs poetry at Literature Festival’s around the UK and has 9 recent poetry books out Staring Directly at the Eclipse ,Travelling Second Class Through Hope, Raining Upwards, This Phantom Breath, The Department of Lost Wishes , Swallowing the Entire Ocean , Strikingly Invisible , the hardback selected works The Escape Plan and most recently The Beauty Within Shadow

The reading and interactive Q&A will be hosted on Zoom. This is a live event and will not be recorded.

We are more committed than ever to helping writers find inspiration, and to make space for their own creativity, no matter the setting. So join us from the comfort of your sofa and listen to writers share their work, the stories behind their work, and invaluable writing advice directly from their own desk (or maybe the kitchen table).
