Arvon at Home: Live Guest Reading

Reading and Q&A with Anita Sethi via Zoom

Wednesday December 15th 2021, 19:15 BST

Now more than ever we need stories – to engage, to distract, to entertain, to nourish, and to help us make sense of what we’re living through. And so while you can’t come to us, instead we will come to you, bringing a taste of Arvon into your home one night a week. Every week an Arvon tutor will join us as a guest, to read from their own work and answer your questions live and in person online.

This Live Guest Reading is with Anita Sethi on Wednesday 15th December at 19:15 BST

Anita Sethi was born in Manchester, UK. Her book, I Belong Here: a Journey Along the Backbone of Britain has been described as “a thing of beauty” by the Sunday Times, “a memoir of rare power” by the Guardian, and as “a magnificent and redemptive achievement” by The Bookseller. I Belong Here has been longlisted for the Wainwright Prize for nature writing. Her writing has also appeared in anthologies including Common People, The Wild Isles and Women on Nature.  She has written for the Guardian, Observer, i, Sunday Times, Telegraph, TLS, Vogue, BBC Wildlife and appeared on various BBC radio programmes. Her career highlights include going birdwatching with Margaret Atwood in the UK’s oldest nature reserve.

She has this week been longlisted for the Wainwright Prize for UK Nature Writing

The reading and interactive Q&A will be hosted on Zoom. This is a live event and will not be recorded.

We are more committed than ever to helping writers find inspiration, and to make space for their own creativity, no matter the setting. So join us from the comfort of your sofa and listen to writers share their work, the stories behind their work, and invaluable writing advice directly from their own desk (or maybe the kitchen table).

Cost: £5.00

Very lovely. It had an intimate feeling despite it being a Zoom event and all of us being in different places.

"Thanks for an excellent session last night. It worked very well on Zoom, especially with the Q&A using the chat function."

"What a brilliant reading. It was intimate and moving and very listener friendly. I loved it and will be back for more."
