Arvon at Home: Live Guest Reading

Reading and Q&A with Emma Paterson via Zoom

Wednesday September 29th - Wednesday September 29th 2021, 19:15 BST

Now more than ever we need stories – to engage, to distract, to entertain, to nourish, and to help us make sense of what we’re living through. But how do we sell those stories and, more than that, identify the right person to push them out into the world for us? In this special Live Guest Reading and Q&A, the renowned agent, Emma Paterson, will talk about the role of the agent, how she identifies talent, while also taking your questions on the publishing industry.

Emma Paterson is a Director of the literary agency Aitken Alexander Associates. She joined the agency in 2018 after five years at Rogers, Coleridge & White. She represents, among others, Bernardine Evaristo, winner of the 2019 Booker Prize; Emmy-nominated data journalist Mona Chalabi; journalist Ash Sarkar; poets Mary Jean Chan and Rachel Long; and the novelists Paul Mendez, Susanna Moore, Chris Power and Olivia Sudjic. She is a member of the Booker Prize Foundation Advisory Committee.

Very lovely. It had an intimate feeling despite it being a Zoom event and all of us being in different places.
