Arvon at Home Writing Day: Fiction

Getting Over The Finishing Line

Saturday April 30th 2022, 10:00 GMT

Have you a fiction project under way that needs a final push? Are you looking for inspiration to take it over the line? Join Jessica Andrews for a fiction workout. The day will include two workshops with Jessica exploring the blurred boundaries between fiction and truth and making space for formal and linguistic experimentation, designed to generate new work as well as to reinvigorate your current project. The workshops are followed by a talk from guest speaker, literary agent, Chris Wellbelove and an hour-long Q&A session at the end of the day when you will have the opportunity to ask questions about your own work.

“My first book was a teetering risk, a tingling dare, a scream in the dark. I had no money, no real place to live, no map, no solid idea of what I was doing. But I knew how to listen to myself. I let the words come, without fear or judgement. There was light and death and anger curled around the letters and I opened my palm and set them free.” – Jessica Andrews
