Arvon at Home Writing Day: Poetry – Work in Progress

A Bolt of Positivity

Saturday April 2nd 2022, 9:45am GMT

Have you lost confidence in your poetry and need a bolt of positivity? Are you struggling to find your drive and motivation? Join Andrew McMillan for a poetry confidence boost. The day will include two workshops with Andrew, designed to generate new work as well as to reinvigorate your current poems. The workshops are followed by a talk from guest speaker Jane Commane and an hour-long Q&A session at the end of the day when you will have the opportunity to ask questions about your own work.

“After a couple of really difficult collections, I’m trying to rediscover joy in my own work- oftentimes when we’re in the middle of a project, a collection or a single poem, we can lose our way, begin to feel negatively towards it- through a series of close readings and exercises we’ll look at ways to find joy in our own work again and keep it moving forward.” – Andrew McMillan

The live event will be hosted on Zoom. It will be recorded and available to view for up to a month after the event.

As part of our wider effort to increase participation in the arts, concessionary places are available for this course.
