Online Writing Week: Fiction Work-in-Progress
Focus on the Craft

This writing day will delve into the darkness that lies beneath in the shape of history, landscape and legend. Whether you’re working on a novel or short story, or just starting out as a writer, you will find out how gothic narratives enrich genres from historical fiction to folk horror. Join Andrew Michael Hurley and Katherine Clements, experienced writers of dark fictions, as they deliver workshops which will help you find the darkness in your characters and settings and illuminate the knotty plots and themes at your disposal.
This event begins at 10:00 but writers are encouraged to arrive for 9:30 so they can get acclimatised to the venue, its location, and enjoy a tea or coffee.
Tickets: £75
Concessions: £52.50
As part of our effort to increase participation in the arts, we offer limited concessionary places at a 30% reduction. You can select this option at checkout if available.
This course was so inspiring, we covered so much ground in a short amount of time.— Arvon Live Participant
There's nothing quite like an Arvon course: that feeling of learning, of discovering new things about yourself and the people you meet along the way.— Arvon Live Participant
It was great to meet other writers and forge connections. It was insightful to hear directly from established authors and poets about their practice and influences in an approachable and intimate space.— Arvon Live Participant
