Masterclass: Screenwriting
Crafting your idea into a compelling TV script

Attention all rock and stone Lovers! This Masterclass is an invitation to explore movement, rock and a kaleidoscope of connections between humans and stones. It will focus on exploring what it means to move a rock and what it means, as a human, to be moved by rocks and stones, through the mediums of both poetry and prose.
Ruth Allen and Alyson Hallett are immersed in the worlds of writing, geology, embodiment, experimentation and the development of relationships with stones. Both writers place stones at the centre of their personal and professional lives: what can be learned from them, how we communicate, how we can write about and with them.
During the session, Ruth and Alyson will share stories about their own experience of working with these elements, as well as encouraging participants to reflect on their own stories.
Participants will be invited to take part in inspiring writing exercises and, most importantly, there will be a sense of collaborating with rocks, with mineral intelligences and exploring new material entanglements.
Participants will learn ways in which to explore and expand how they think and write about rocks and rocky landscapes, the outer and inner lives of stones.
This Masterclass will be playful, and it is hoped that all writers will come away with some innovative writing, provocations and thoughts to nourish them through the days and weeks after the session. The Masterclass is for anyone, at any stage of their writing, who is interested in this fascinating subject and how it intersects with and feeds creativity.
Is this session for me?

"These zoom opportunities are really helping to open my world and keep me inspired to write."— Masterclass participant
"Arvon at Home creates a model to participate in inspirational tutoring for writers, at a distance. The feeling of attending to my writing life in an excellent fashion, and still having a half-day for my work and caring responsibilities at home, felt like a good balance."— Masterclass participant
"It was an absolutely brilliant session and very very useful. And it made me realise how much I’ve missed this kind of workshop because of having children and family that I can’t leave. Now we’re all in the same boat the online stuff is truly transformative."— Masterclass participant
