Masterclass: Testing the Boundaries of Non-Fiction

Zoom Masterclass with Craig Taylor
Tutor
  • Craig Taylor
Date Tuesday June 28th 2022, 19:00 - 21:00 BST
Location Online

Teaching creative writing and leading a workshop is a creative, personal act, and can be just as original and fulfilling as the writing itself.

In this inspiring class, best-selling author Craig Taylor will explore the possibilities of documentary writing. He’ll discuss how to write and research the kinds of non-fiction projects that test the boundaries of the form. If you’re interested in how to write about other people, how to conduct interviews, how to organize large projects, how to experiment and press non-fiction into new shapes, this masterclass will provide an opportunity to enliven your work and remind you of the stories that are waiting in the endlessly rich human experience around us. If you’re looking to write about big cities like London and New York, yes, we’ll definitely discuss those subjects too.

The Masterclass will be delivered via Zoom webinar (19:00-21:00), so you can take the session at your own pace, without the pressure of having your video or camera on. Sessions are also recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you will have access to the recording for a month afterwards.

"These zoom opportunities are really helping to open my world and keep me inspired to write."

"Arvon at Home creates a model to participate in inspirational tutoring for writers, at a distance. The feeling of attending to my writing life in an excellent fashion, and still having a half-day for my work and caring responsibilities at home, felt like a good balance."
— Masterclass participant
"It was an absolutely brilliant session and very very useful. And it made me realise how much I’ve missed this kind of workshop because of having children and family that I can’t leave. Now we’re all in the same boat the online stuff is truly transformative."
