Masterclass: Crime Fiction
Feeling the solve
How do you take the sprawl of your life and distil it to deliver the ‘umph’ of an effective story? How do you identify and then magnify the electricity buried in the mundane?
Led by award-winning American writer T Kira Madden, this generative nonfiction masterclass will focus on isolation and compression, on finding narrative ‘heat’ and unexpected pathways through our memories, our selves, and all the other selves we’ve been in between.
The scaffolding of published works will serve as blueprints and gateways for your writing exercises, and you will explore structures and strategies for rendering work inspired by your own experiences—and the compromises and thrills that come with that responsibility.
The Masterclass will be delivered via Zoom webinar, so you can take the session at your own pace, without the pressure of having your video or camera on. Sessions are also recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you will have access to the recording for a month afterwards.
