Online Writing Day: Assembling Your Poetry Pamphlet
Putting your poems together
From its origins in the medieval Italian court, the sonnet has evolved into one of poetry’s most malleable, yet enduring, forms. In this practical workshop Anthony Joseph, winner of the 2022 T.S. Eliot Prize for poetry, leads a Masterclass looking at the ways in which contemporary poets can develop the sonnet form and stretch its limits. Through generative writing exercises, you will explore how the sonnet comments on a universal human experience. You will examine how to creatively approach, experiment with and apply the sonnet form, whilst retaining its unique, defining features.
