Online 5-Week Evening Course: Fiction

Who's talking?
Tutors
  • Nii Ayikwei Parkes
  • Jess Richards
Date Monday August 12th - Tuesday September 10th 2024
Location Online

Join award-winning tutors Nii Parkes and Jess Richards to take a deep dive into the worlds of the seer and the speaker with the aim of creating unique and effective narrative voices in your fiction. Using published examples as well as exercises, you will explore how voice reflects each character’s history, motivations, point of view and context, and how it helps shape narrative structure, characterisation, dialogue and drama. This course will suit writers who’ve got the spark of a plot or story idea, and want to explore it from the perspective of different (sometimes surprising) potential characters; it is also suitable for those who are just beginning their writing journey. You will leave the course motivated and inspired to continue your writing.

Do you want to commit time to your writing but can only manage a couple of hours a week? Would you like a writing boost and a network of writing buddies? Then join us for this Arvon Evening Course which unpacks our popular 5-day online writing week over 5 weeks of evening classes. Each week, your tutors will deliver a workshop designed to propel your writing forward, with one-to-one tutorials offered mid-course, alongside tutor readings and weekly socials.  You will develop a regular writing routine and come away from the course with a whole new network of contacts and companions for your writing years ahead.
