Foraging for inspiration

Every life story is one worth telling, whether for family and loved ones or a wider readership. Novelists have a clean canvas on which to paint, while those of us who write memoir carve a stone that is already there. But both rely on skill and technique to bring the story alive. If you have a work-in-progress memoir and you need help to make it more compelling, and you want to join a community of like-minded people, this four-week course with memoirists Miranda Doyle and Lily Dunn will offer a helping hand. Together, during inspiring online workshops and focused one-to-one tutorials, we will explore how to shape a narrative and learn what it means to write well and connect with readers. This week will be creative, supportive and fun. Here you will have the space and dedicated time to find your voice, and to finally commit to writing that story that won’t otherwise leave you alone.
Is this course for me?
Our month-long courses are aimed at writers who have a specific goal in mind for the month. This might be to begin their writing journey, to make progress on a work-in-progress, or to kickstart a commitment to their writing going forward.
These courses are often attended by writers who:
What will I gain?
How does it work?
The month kicks off with an introductory session to get to know you and to ensure we meet your individual writing needs, as well as the chance to meet the other writers in the group. Then each week for the next month there will be evening workshops on Tuesdays designed to move you and your writing forward. You will also be offered one-to-one tutorials with each tutor + a free pass to all readings and masterclasses happening elsewhere at Arvon at Home.
A more detailed timetable can be found below.
