Totleigh Barton
Give your writing the time and space it deserves on a five day Writers’ Retreat at Totleigh Barton. This is an opportunity to spend time away from the stresses and strains of daily life, surrounded by nature. Our retreats are offered in Covid-secure environments and are fully catered, leaving you more time to sit at your desk and write, or walk in the beautiful landscape. Whether you are starting something new, or pushing on to finish your latest draft, make time to free your imagination.
Totleigh Barton is a 16th-century manor house with ancient origins (it is listed in the Domesday Book) in one of the most peaceful and idyllic parts of Devon. Around an hour from Exeter by car, the house has been an Arvon centre for over fifty years, welcoming groups every week to enjoy the peace and tranquillity and nourish their creativity.
Our retreats are fully catered, with home-cooked meals made from fresh produce. Writers are not required to undertake any cooking or washing up all week, meaning more time to write. Meals will be served to you in our large dining room in the main house.
You’ll have access to the large barn space with sofas and desks, well-stocked library, and cosy living room (some restrictions will apply to the communal spaces due to Covid measures).
A full refund will be available if the retreat has to be cancelled due to covid rules. See booking terms and conditions.
Our single rooms have views of the garden or surrounding fields, a writing desk, fridge, and tea-making facilities. There is a maximum of 2 single rooms available on each retreat. Each room has its own dedicated private bathroom (some en suite).
£725 per person for five nights.
