Amber Akaunu
Amber Akaunu is a Nigerian-German artist from Liverpool and co-founder of the award winning magazine, ROOT-ed. She works across several mediums to explore concepts of race and identity through the lens of her experience as a Black Northern woman. Amber recently directed Afro Hair Rituals, a four minute film exploring the sacred and intimate ritual of styling and caring for afro hair, drawing from Ambers memories of getting her hair done in her grandmother’s home.
