Anita Roy is the author of writer and environmentalist based in Wellington, Somerset. She is a regular contributor to the Guardian‘s Country Diary column, and her essays have appeared in Granta, Guernica, Dark Mountain and Resurgence & Ecologist among others. With Pippa Marland, she co-edited and contributed to Gifts of Gravity and Light: A Nature Almanac for the 21st Century (Hodder & Stoughton) and her award-winning children’s novel, Gravepyres School for the Recently Deceased was published in India by Westland Books. When not writing or making acoustic sound clouds out of recycled wool, she can be found with a shovel and scythe on Transition Town Wellington’s newly planted forest garden.
