Laura Barton was a Guardian feature writer and music columnist for a decade, and now writes for a variety of publications including the Guardian, the Observer, the New York Times, Prospect and Uncut. She is also a regular contributor to Radio 4. Her debut novel, Twenty-One Locks, was the recipient of a Betty Trask Award. Her next non-fiction book, Sad Songs, will be published in 2023.
