Masterclass: Exploring Untold Stories

Masterclass: Exploring Untold Stories

Zoom Masterclass with Tania Hershman
  • Tania Hershman
Date Tuesday January 17th 2023, 19:00 - 21:00 GMT
Location Online

Gaps, mysteries and unanswered questions in history are a gift for the writer. In this Masterclass, Tania Hershman takes as her starting point the lives of the women the history books left out. From the thrilling to the disturbing, you will delve together into the stories of some extraordinary characters, using inspiring prompts to stimulate fresh ideas, whether you’re writing creative non-fiction, poetry, fiction or flash. The session is open to all, and suitable for beginners as well as experienced writers. A proportion of the proceeds of this Masterclass will be going towards a bursary fund for writers on low incomes to attend a Hybrid Writing residential week with Tania Hershman and Holly Corfield Carr at Totleigh Barton in March 2023.

The Masterclass is part of Tania Hershman’s Autumn/Winter residency at Arvon, a bloc of programming curated by Tania. It will be delivered via Zoom webinar (19:00-21:00), so you can take the session at your own pace, without the pressure of having your video or camera on. Sessions are also recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you will have access to the recording for a month afterwards.

"These zoom opportunities are really helping to open my world and keep me inspired to write."

"Arvon at Home creates a model to participate in inspirational tutoring for writers, at a distance. The feeling of attending to my writing life in an excellent fashion, and still having a half-day for my work and caring responsibilities at home, felt like a good balance."
— Masterclass participant
"It was an absolutely brilliant session and very very useful. And it made me realise how much I’ve missed this kind of workshop because of having children and family that I can’t leave. Now we’re all in the same boat the online stuff is truly transformative."
