Katy Schutte

Katy is a writer and improviser. She tours globally and has been teaching and performing improvisation for 20 years. Katy is a contributing writer for card game Cards Against Humanity, was resident songwriter for Sean and Robot’s Comedy Circuit podcast on Fun Kids digital radio, co-writer of Beth’s Legacy, an augmented reality story game for Storyfutures and CreativeXR and one of two writers for The Galaxicle Implosions, a semi-improvised virtual reality, live and streaming show with Flipside and FANDCO. She also made XR shows House of Masks and Play Test with FANDCO. Katy wrote and starred in sit com web series Sideliners which has won multiple awards including Best Writing, Best Pilot and Best Actress. She has written and performed in 5-star fringe shows including comedy musical Who Ya Gonna Call, folk horror Let’s Summon Demons and storytelling stand-up show Schutte the Unromantic. Katy was a Brighton Fringe Best Comedy Show Finalist (2018). Katy’s book, The Improviser’s Way: A Longform Workbook is published by Nick Hern Books. She recently won Best Script Award’s Feature Script Grand Prix and the WRPNSC Gold Script Writing award for her screenplay Coming of (Middle) Age. Katy is currently working on a play based on her experience as an artist in residence with The Arctic Circle Project and is supported by the Arts Council England and Peggy Ramsay Foundation. The play will run for three weeks at Omnibus Theatre in 2024.
