Masterclass: Crime Fiction
Feeling the solve
Join Sam Knight, a staff writer at the New Yorker and the author of The Premonitions Bureau, to talk about research and reporting techniques to help realise and enrich the world of your non-fiction project. The masterclass will be useful for writers exploring contemporary subjects or the recent past and will show how the tools of journalism — interviews, note-taking and imaginative research — can be used to deepen and enliven your prose. It will be an interactive session, with writing extracts to discuss, exercises to help you map your research process, tips to restart you if you’re stuck, and new ways of thinking about how to integrate your reporting into a compelling and original draft.
The Masterclass will be delivered via Zoom webinar, so you can take the session at your own pace, without the pressure of having your video or camera on. Sessions are also recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you will have access to the recording for a month afterwards.
