Masterclass: Nature Writing
Writing the wild
We’re going to talk about Autofiction. It’s quite a trendy term, or was a couple years ago, but my hope is that I’ll show you there’s nothing new under the sun. We’ll sit at the feet of masters such as Ernaux. We’ll steal from memoir, fiction and our own lived experiences to create something that is neither here nor there, and we will learn not to worry so much about categories. Good writing is good writing, and there is no common definition. Most of all, we’re going to explore how ‘lived fiction’ is an opportunity to create a unique intimacy with the reader that is harder to achieve with other forms. You have a story to tell that is your own. The task now is to find a way to tell it that is undeniable. Join me, and we’ll work this out together.
The Masterclass will be delivered via Zoom webinar, so you can take the session at your own pace, without the pressure of having your video or camera on. Sessions are also recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you will have access to the recording for a month afterwards.
