Online Writing Week: Poetry
Poetry and its Hinterland
How do you feel about writing from the full range of voices and worlds that haunt your life? Are you excited by geography and history; language, time, and place – or overwhelmed? According to John Donne, “No man is an island” and in this Masterclass, poet Anthony (Vahni) Capildeo will guide you through a shared, text-based understanding of diaspora and many-worldedness. You will explore the role of the imagination in world-building. You will also look at language, and languages, extending into sounds, soundscapes, silence, and music. You will examine the poetry of Zohar Atkins, Josie Giles, Kei Miller, and Loretta Collins Klobah, whilst generating your own new writing on many-worldedness.
This recording will be available to watch at your convenience. Please see the ‘Access’ tab for information on how to find it.
