Masterclass: How to Teach Poetry
Invent a workshop that is entirely yours

You’re invited to Writing: The Party – an online writing session exploring the party as a setting for your poetry, hosted by poet Laurie Bolger. Whether you’re the life and soul or prefer taking it all in next to the crisps, this session will use the rich landscape of a party as a setting to explore your writing. Come and sample a creative buffet that asks what potential the party holds for our writing – how we exist in it and the memories and nostalgia that parties past and present open up for us. Drawing on writers & artists Laurie loves, you’ll have time to explore, ask questions and, most of all, write in a playful and relaxed setting. You’ll come away with new ideas, new writing and new inspirations. All you need is somewhere chilled to scribble and let your imagination do its thing. Party hats encouraged but entirely optional.
The Masterclass will be delivered via Zoom webinar, so you can take the session at your own pace, without the pressure of having your video or camera on. Sessions are also recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you will have access to the recording for a month afterwards.

"These zoom opportunities are really helping to open my world and keep me inspired to write."— Masterclass participant
"Arvon at Home creates a model to participate in inspirational tutoring for writers, at a distance. The feeling of attending to my writing life in an excellent fashion, and still having a half-day for my work and caring responsibilities at home, felt like a good balance."— Masterclass participant
"It was an absolutely brilliant session and very very useful. And it made me realise how much I’ve missed this kind of workshop because of having children and family that I can’t leave. Now we’re all in the same boat the online stuff is truly transformative."— Masterclass participant
