Masterclass: Nature Writing
Writing the wild
If you are looking for inspiration to start writing as a way of beginning a healing process, this Masterclass is for you. After a difficult, overwhelming, or traumatic experience, we can be left feeling powerless, without language or agency. Research shows traumatic events can immobilise those regions of the brain that we need when we are trying to put what we have been through into word. For those with a history of trauma, writing can be a valuable catalyst for healing and recovery, offering a way back from silence, confusion and shame. This Masterclass will support you as you work to exert linguistic control over your experience, helping you to reclaim your voice and give shape to your story.
Employing a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive methodology, psychotherapist and writer Katie Watson will show you how to use creative writing as a therapeutic tool to support wellbeing, encourage self-discovery and promote healing. This Masterclass is suitable for all levels, with an emphasis on the creative process of writing, rather than the craft.
We are committed to making our Arvon at Home programme accessible to as many people as possible.
