Ekphrastic Poetry in the Age of Social Media

By: Emilie Lauren Jones

Video / Poetry / 14-16

In poetry, ‘ekphrastic’ refers to poems that are inspired by art. In the age of social media and the internet, we create and view hundreds of images every week. Could these be viewed as art and can we use them to inspire our writing?

What to expect from this session:
– Two fun and challenging writing activities for you to take part in
– Discover how asking questions can inspire interesting responses to images
– Explore using a word bank and spider diagram to assist your writing

This workshop is roughly 50 minutes including time to write.
